Free Yarn ROCKS
I had quite the stash enriching venture this weekend in the form of some great yarn for $0! What a great deal . . . now I just have to figure out what to do with my Noro Silk Garden . . . !Also, a bird landed on my head a few minutes ago. I think it was a condor. Or perhaps a sparrow..
WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's a song I wrote this morning on the way to work: The Democrats won the House, the Democrats won the Senate, Rumsfeld resigned, and Ted Haggard was outed! Ha Ha Ha Ha-ha Haaaaaaaaa!I sang it all the way to work and throughout the day and will continue to sing it all the way home. I can't tell you how happy I am about the election results! It is as if a weight has been lifted and there is hope for the future.
Much to report.
First, the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series! I find this gratifying for a couple of reasons. First, I'm a Midwesterner. I lived in Missouri and Kansas most of my life, and as such, I am contractually obligated to love all sports teams from Missouri. I am also contractually obligated to hate the New York Yankees with every fiber in my being--and turns out, that's pretty easy for me. Most importantly, I am hoping that the St. Louis win over Detroit means that history will soon repeat itself. As you might know, the KC Royals won the whole shooting match back in 1985 over the Cards. Since the Card hadn't won a World Series in twenty-something years, maybe the Royals will turn around and start playing good ball. I mean, it makes sense! They're due! It could happen . . . .But probably not. One more comment about the World Series, and then probably nothing else about sports for years to come. I was very impressed by the comments of the managers for both team. Very gracious, very respectful. Nice. Now, on with the good stuff. I knitted like a fool this weekend. I worked on the baby blanket, but something strange happened and I dropped five or six stitches in one row. No idea how that happened. I tried to pick them up but the yarn I'm using makes it difficult, so I had to frog the whole thing. Bummer. On a happier knitting note, I completed a nice scarf and hat for Wende's god-daughter, Ally. Yesterday was Ally's birthday and the scarf and hat were her fifth favorite presents out of seven. She explained that it wasn't that the scarf and hat weren't good presents, its just that she had a few other that were better. Like the puppy, the telescope, the dragon thing, and one other thing that she couldn't remember. Anyway, she really seemed pleased with them both. and despite the fact that she looked adorable, I didn't get any pictures. I suck.
Just Add Needles
It's kind of scary how much this looks like me. The only thing that's missing are the knitting needles and a big orange bag to drag all my yarn around in. I really don't have much to report on the knitting front. I'm still working on that baby blanket from a few days ago, and it seems to be going pretty well and fairly quickly. I dropped a stitch yesterday, but it was easily remedied . . . Especially since the yarn I am using hides hideous mistakes pretty well. I found another pattern for a purse that I want to knit. Because I need something else to knit.
Still no knitting related photos. I really need to figure out what's wrong with the digital camera. Until then, I'll continue to entertain you with scenes from our wedding. In this one, someone apparently just said something really damn funny, based on my lovely expression. Either that, or I'm pretending to be a lion. In case it isn't clea
r based on previous photos, I make all kinds of really embarrassing faces. And our wedding day was no exception! Here I am doing god knows what . . . The lovely lady to my left is my better half, Wende. She managed to remember that there would be many people taking pictures that day and did not make silly faces every couple of seconds. She's a smarty, that one. That's it for today's installment. More to come, including the one where it looks like I'm making out with my brother!
Halloween Resolution
OK, so it's been months. Yet again. Its not that I don't want to post, its just that I never remember to. So, I stand firmly resolved that I will blog more. Yesterday, I had an appointment in the Atlanta area, so I set aside some time to go to the yarn store in Marietta. It was delicious! I bought a hank of great yarn for a purse for felting. Seriously awesome looking! And it's named after one of my all time favorite women . . . Shirley Chisholm! I also bought a crap-load of yarn for a baby blanket I'll be working furiously towards completing by November. Despite the use of crap in the description of the amount of yarn, this is the best yarn I've ever felt for baby stuff. I loved it so much, I found a similar yarn in grown up colors for a scarf for an adult. Good times. Once I've fixed the camera (or figured out how to use my camera phone for stuff like this), I'll post all kinds of crazy photos that show case the bitching yarn I bought. Until then, here's a happy little photo o
f yours truly from our wedding album. In this one, I'm all decked out, talking on the cell phone. I'm probably giving directions to someone OR calling my brother (my best man) to see why the hell it took three helpers five hours to buy a bag of ice. Or maybe it was something entirely different. Who knows? Really, the possibilities are endless. In the not too distant future, I'll talk more about that marvelous day and include more marvelous photos for your viewing enjoyment!
Its been MONTHS
Wow, I am so lame. I haven't posted in a really long time. This is in part because I never really did anything with that writing challenge Allyson passed on to me, so it felt like cheating if i posted things not related to the challenge. WTF ever, I'm over that.
In addition to not writing, I got really involved in planning a wedding. Mine, to be specific. Perhaps I'll post on all that sometime relatively soon . . . .
